Question:

What would be the best type of paint to use on an inexpensive canvas?

Im trying to make some cute paintings for my new home vs buying expensive art from the store. Unfortunately, i have never painted before and need some help. I have no idea what paint to use, i will just buy the least expensive canvas. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks! :)

  1. I started out with acrylics and if you also buy some medium you can blend the colors.  It will dry slower and allow you time to fix any mistakes until you get use to painting.  You might want to prime your canvas first.  If you do this even a cheap canvas can look great after painted.  Good luck and have fun!


  2. If you use a cheap canvas, buy some cheap paints (from one of those $2.0 shops). You'll wind up with a cheap result.

    You'll need some tuition as well. Painting well, will takes many years.

  3. Try inexpensive acrylic artist paint - found at a craft store. You can buy paint for less than $3.00 a tube and two packs of stretched and primed 16 x 20 canvas, some brushes fairly inexpensive as well...Then...Have fun!!!

  4. i use acrylic paints to paint on canvas for anything else. it dries fast, and mistakes are easily fixed. good luck.
