What would be the best way for me to resign from my job?

i'm a high school senior working two jobs this summer. one of my jobs is pretty far away from my house and i work there only on saturdays. this year i plan on being very involved with school and activities and friends and such, so i am planning on giving my two weeks notice at the job i work on saturdays just because its not really worth the small amount i get paid what with gas prices and my time and everything to make such a long trip in and back. the problem is, i never see my boss, since she only works on the weekdays, so it will be difficult to talk face to face. my mom thinks that since this place is very informal and i don't work with any other people with authority on saturdays that i can talk to about this ( like managers) that i could just leave my boss a letter telling what my last day will be etc and ask to be contacted. does this sound ok or should i call my boss or do something else? thanks to all those who answer!

  1. write a letter of resignation thanking your employer for the opportunity and go in during the week and give her the letter and give your two weeks notice. You never know when you will cross paths with your old boss, be it a reference or another job down the road. The more professional the better. Wiki how to has a great page on how to resign gracefully

  2. Give them a two week notice and then go.

  3. A letter is an OK idea, but I would just call. I have had a few employees resign this way and I find it to be perfectly acceptable.

  4. the letter sounds ok

but I would add a personal call

thank them for the opportunity to have worked for them, etc etc

I have left a letter for you on your desk blah blah

may need them for a reference

  5. Sing the old country song "Take This Job and Shove It, I Ain't Workin' Here no More!"
