Any tips on getting the most out of my 10 day stay in Malaga? Types of activities? How easy is it to get to places like Gibratar and into Morocco for a 2-3 day jaunt (via ferry?)? Also, where can I spend at least a few days doing nothing more than relaxing poolside or on the beach? Any guidance--especially from those of you who have visited--would be much appreciated.

  1. I haven't been to Morocco, but the coastal motorway/freeway to Gibraltar was easy. The town of Gibraltar wasn't anything special, but we enjoyed the steep gondola ride up the rock. There were breathtaking views across the strait/Med and it was fun feeding the Barbary monkeys. If I recall correctly (it's been 4 or 5 years), the main motorway/freeway from Malaga to Gibraltar was a toll road, so be sure to have Euro coin. If you want a bit of charm and culture, I'd recommend a drive up into the mountains to the "White Villages", Mijas, etc. Beautiful drive and lots of scenic, traditional villages and towns. I do not know your interests, but I found the coast itself to be rather touristy and lacking in terms of real Spanish culture. I love England (having lived there for many years), but I don't want to see fish and chip shops and British flags in Spain. I am not sure February will be all that warm for beach or poolside. You may want to check on average seasonal temperatures first.

  2. Many people come to appreciate the good weather and fine beaches of the Costa Del Sol. From Málaga, other cities of Andalucia, like Sevilla, Córdoba and Granada, can be reached by train, bus or car. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/malaga.... for more details

  3. yeah, its really easy to get to gibralta, by bus if u dont have a car. but Gib is nothing special, its really quite dirty and busy..............unles you really wanted to see the rock i wouldnt bother going to be honest. We went when i was younger all the time,(i grew up in malaga) but that was because mum wanted to buy english shopping from safeways................

we did visit the rock twice, saw the monkeys and inside the rock, it wasnt that exciting.

Places to see in and around malaga; i'd go to 'el corte ingles' its a massive store in malaga center...its meant to be the spanish harrods-but i wouldnt know, ive never been to harrods; but its ace, its 2big buildings across the road from each other, and there's a litle unfderground tunnel which has decorations and stuff up to get from one to the other.

i would also go to villages such as mijas, then you could continue past there and go to marbella and hang out there..............its quite expensive there, but u never know who u may bumb into thats famous.

i enjoy going out in benalmadena at night............

oh and in arroyo de la miel there's a theme park but its open in the night timel, its got some wicked rides there if u like that sort of thing, theres also bars and dancind there, just dont get too pissed before u go on the roller coaster.............................

any other help u may need email me.

Ill do my best to help.........X
