What would be the best way to advertise a conference?

I am working with a charity called GHP. They are doing a conference on addiction. if you could tell me what the best way to get it known about? thank you : )

Is your audience people who are addicted or those who deal with those who are addicted? What if they are addicted but don't want to do anything about it? Are they your audience too, or just the ones who are ready to change? Without knowing the details, here are some general ideas:

You can't tell everyone about it, but you can contact others who tell others who tell others...

For instance, make up an 8x11 flier with all necessary details, and go see every church secretary in town. Ask her to post the flier on the bulletin board, and ask if she could publicize the conference in the church newsletter.

Then go to doctors' offices and talk to their receptionists. Can the doctor suggest attendance to his/her patients? Post the flier.

Ask each person you meet for their suggestions & you'll get more leads.

Aim at your target audience, where do they go.

is it a specific sector, Drug workers, Police, Community workers try their offices. If your aiming at a specific group like the young try ad posters in the schools, doctors surgery's, drop in clinics, Local NA meetings, Church Halls, places of worship.
