What would be the best way to attach some type of hanger to a 29" x 37" mirror without breaking the mirror?

When I purchased the mirror it did not come with a hanger in which to hang it on the wall. I see the kits at Michael's for attaching the metal hangers, but I am afraid I will break the mirror when I am s******g them in. Any ideas are appreciated!

Any good hardware store carries heavy duty metal miror clips.

attach magnets to the back. most come with adhesive backs so it wont break the mirror. then attach magnets to the hanger and hang voila

Mirrors are heavy. I'd put it in a good quality wood frame, (like a picture frame) and hang it by the frame.

there are plastic mirror hangers that you can use. I would use 2  on all sides and try to hit a stud in the wall. s***w them in with a hand s***w driver and not a power one.

i like your idea of a framing store doing it for you. If they feel the frame you have is not sufficient they will tell you.

Most pictures or mirrors do not go the entire width of the frame they are in. They are set inside a groove cut into the frame leaving about 1/2 inch or so of clear frame from the edge to the edge of the mirror.

If you get a hanging kit, the screws are not long enough to cause breakage in whatever is in the frame IF they're centered on the frame properly. If they're too close to the groove that the mirror is in, there is a possiblity of breaking the mirror when you install it. But I've installed hanging kits before and as long as you watch what you're doing, you should have no problems.

If you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself, then I would go with the framing shop installing something for you. Maybe you could buy the hanging kit from Michael's and take it and the mirror to the framing shop and they could install it for you for a minimal fee instead of having to purchase everything from them?
