I have a hallmark card its about 3" x 5" folded left side. so it opens up like an american book. I want to print inside it using my printer. it would have a left and right inside. I would like to know how best to go about doing this. I am having problems setting up margins padding and paper size with printer and in this case i am using mac os x ms word software.

it prints out 2 paragraphs of text each paragraph should be to each side but they print out too close to each other.

  1. First of all, it appears that you need to fix your Word file. If it were me, I'd paste each paragraph in a text box and position them (use the "Format text box" from the Format pull down menu. Select the Position tab and fill in the information. If you indicate all your measurements from "Page" it will indent appropriately from the edge of the paper. Here is where you can control the distance between the two text boxes.

Next, you want to hand-feed the paper into your printer, not only because it is probably heavy-weight stock, but because it is scored (pre-folded). You will also probably have to adjust your printer for what weight (thickness) paper you're using.

In the end, it would be better to purchase the paper unfolded, then trim to size and fold AFTER you print. This is how it is done in a print shop.

Also, most printers made for the home user were simply not designed for this ask, so all you can is hope for the best.

    Good luck!
