Me and some of my friends are amateur filmmakers (hobby we started up a while back) and we're thinking of making a lengthy spoof of High School Musical.

I have some ideas in mind, but I'm looking for some suggestions. 10 Points up for grabs.

  1. Be extremely obvious, like have a bunch of shots that show a really random thing in the back ground. Or just have the entire set fall away in the middle of the scene, revealing they are in fact in the middle of a parking lot.

  2. I would totally play on the fact that this is a Disney production and possibly even play up that it is a cliche musical.  It is essentially a clean version of Grease! that will be making money off of Tween girls and their parents for many years to come.  Personally I see one character wearing mouse ears through the whole thing.  You could even play on the Miley Cyrus debaclue (Vanity Fair pictures) even though SHE wasn't in High School Musical.

If done right you could spoof the whole Disney "aimed at tween girls" genre (IE: Hannah Montana, Cheeta Girls, etc.).

Oh and just for kicks (I've seen this thing enough, I have an 11 year old daughter) you might mention how creepy it is that brother and sister always play opposite each other in the "High School Musical"!!!  EWWWW!

  3. Create parodies of the character names.

Make all the male characters fah-lamingly g*y.

Have a plot twist that involves something sad or even tragic, then have the characters suddenly break into an up-beat song about how unhappy they are.

Make one of the characters a serial killer who can't stand singing.  Then, when he/she is about to stab someone, the intended victim breaks out into some inane song and causes the killer to writhe in agony.

  4. LMAO!! That sounds like a great idea..i bet id be hilarious..sorry i dont have ideas though :(

  5. Oh that is a great idea! Here are some suggestions:

[I have included 5 suggestions, and 5 examples]

    1. You should make the characters twisted and opposite:

Like Troy, for example, instead of falling for Gabriella, would fall for harpay.

    2. Switch the characters up. Change the scenario.

Ex. Gabriella does volleyball at her local highschool and of course is the team's star. Troy, the loser/drama freak gets Gabriella to "break free" from her volleyball/family responsibilties and auditions for the school play.

    3. Switch the "good team" and the "bad team"

Ex. Troy and Gabriella pair could switch with the Sharpay and Ryan pair. So in this case, Troy and Gabriella are the typical popular couple who always star together in their plays, until new incomming siblins Sharpay and Ryan come in to steal the spotlight.

    4. Don't forget the background people!

Ex. You could even focus on the best friends of Troy and Gabriella (Chad, Taylor, Kelsi)

    5. Make fun of it completely. Empathize on stereotypes, because that's what makes spoofs funny! If you've watched the YouTube Video on the Laguna Beach Spoof, you'll know what I mean.

Ex. You could criticize the typical disney scenarios, like the "mean girl" blonde that runs the school, and the totally hot jock, or the smarty pants new student ...blah blah blah.

    Hope this helps!

  6. Pre School Musical where all the little toddlers sing about milk and cookies.

  7. do a murder movie, kinda like the old 80's horror movies where once you go somewhere alone or you have s*x, you get killed....? so when someone has a song or musical number, they die or are murdered.

highschool the musical, 60 year reunion ....

do a pleasanville theme, where the only place it was really okay to brake out in song and all the cheesey drama happens is in this one town. you get to see the after affects of the kids graduating and leaving and how what happens when they break into song in other environments.
