What would be the consequences of a baby robin losing its tail

Would it still be able to fly, would it grow back etc?

I don't kow how it happened

  1. Please take the bird to a facitly or vet asap.

    How did it lose its tail?!!

  3. Without tail feathers, the bird can't fly as well. If it's a baby, the chances of him flying at all without a tail are minimal. The tail feathers are used kind of like a rutter in flight, and without it, he will have a hard time keeping himself balanced, slowing, stopping, loosing & gaining altitude, etc.

    It would grow back, but since he is a wild bird, deprived of flight even for a short period of time is quite deadly.  Especially with a young bird; I mean granted his parents may feed him a bit longer, but he needs to learn how to fly soon, so that he can gain his confidence & abilities to forage, fly, etc. and depending on where you live, his parents may have to abandon him to migrate south for the coming Fall-Winter months quite shortly, here.
