What would be the dangers of eyewitness identification.?

   Eye-witness identification and testimony has been discovered to be notoriously wrong. There are a lot of people in prison because of faulty ID by a witness, and in many cases of false identification, police have coerced the witness in to making the identification, or the witness has been so emotionally involved that thier emotions cloud their judement. Check out the Innocence Poject and you will discover that not only has DNA exonerated the convicted, but so has identification that was later discovered to be wrong.

I think the movie "My Cousin Vinnie" probably illustrates the dangers as far as them being inaccurate.

The TV series "In Plain Sight" seems to be about the danger to witnesses themselves.

Are you asking what the dangers would be to have an eyewitness identifying a suspect or to be the eyewitness doing the identifying?

The danger in having an eyewitness identify a suspect would be a mis-identification and charges being filed against an innocent party.

The dangers of being an eyewitness doing the identifying would depend on the suspect and how likely he is to seek retribution.
