Just seeing what people think, but I'm wondering what people think the easiest sport is in the Olympics. Let's say that you have a little above average athletic ability and are in relatively good shape. I watched Badminton the other day and laughed. Air rifle looks pretty easy too. I'm sure they are both difficult to qualify for, but what's your opinions?

  1. I'm thinking ping pong!

  2. Badminton is NOT an easy sport. These great players started really young and spent their entire life practicing all the time. Plus it requires flexibility, power, agility and stamina to do all that, and that means additional physique training. Just because the ball/shuttlecock is not heavy and make loud noise when hit like Tennis ball or Volleyball doesn't mean you can smoke weed while playing and still get Olympic medal.

  3. Have you played badminton before ?

The easiest is to live in some countries where there are noone have ever won medals, you can qualify in some sports because Olympic rules wants all countries to take part.

Maybe as swimmers from East Timor ?

  4. Swimming.  Just put on a laser suit, and you win.  Takes no skill.  Just ask Michael Phelps.

  5. that is such a hard question i dont think there are any sports that are the easiest i think all of them take a different type of skill. maybe badminton looks easy but im sure it would take years to lean to watch and hit it propperly. i just cant think of any sport that wouldnt take year of hard training.

  6. There is no easy sport. they look easy because those people have been practicing for years and are professionals.

  7. If you've ever tried badminton or swimming or any other sport like that, you would find that it takes incredible determination, talent, skill, and fearlessness. To the guy that says swimming is easy, I have to disagree. Swimming exhausts the whole entire body and if you compete in the air rifle section, you have to not move a single cell of your body for a couple of seconds. Sure, you don't need a lot of muscle for badminton, but the strokes are difficult.

  8. I say the easiest sport for an individual to qualify for would be the sport that he/she is best at.

But IMO, fencing doesn't look all that hard if you understand the rules which are quite complex.

  9. while every sport is difficult you would be better off finding a sport that fewer people participate in. i think that the sports that are more flooded like track require a bit more genetics in addition to the given of hard work. try to look for a sport that is less popular and that suits some of your natural abilities and then work work work.

however if there is a more popular sport that you are willing to work at and think you might be inclined to i wouldn't write it off just because the likelihood of making an olympics is lessened.

the most important thing to me seems to do something that you love and are passionate about because that will increase your ability to work at that thing.

  10. None of them are easy to qualify for.

All of them require ridiculous natural skill and practice. Badminton requires amazing motor skills. The fastest badminton smashes recorded are over 200 mph (the fastest tennis serves are around 150 mph and the fastest baseball pitch is around 100mph). The vast majority of people simply will NEVER have the type of reaction time required to react to that.

Similarly, air rifle is extremely difficult. The best shooters have the special ability to lower their heart rate before shooting. A lot of the top air rifle shooters are the very best shooters in the military.
