How long would it be on the bus vs. driving? There would possibly be 8 people. Is it easy to catch a bus and/or rent a car there if we were under 25years old?

  1. If it was me, I'd rent a car and drive across.  How many people are with you and how fast do you want to get there.

Me, I'd stop for lunch in Valladolid at a restaurant next to a cenote.  Then drive to Chichen Itza, get a room for the night in Piste, and walk around Chichen Itza for the afternoon, and see the sound and light show at night.  Then I'd leave for Merida the next morning.  But that's just me.

  2. The bus is inexpensive, safe and reliable.

Not much difference in driving times car or bus.5 hours +/-With a car you have tolls, gasoline etc. and it is often difficult finding a place to park in metro areas.Long distance buses go terminal to terminal . Catch a cab to go to or from the terminals...simple, no hassle on the bus.If you need a car in Merida rent one there otherwise taxis and city buses abound.Have a great trip and feel free to email me if you have any other questions.
