I have a question I can't figure out..

What would the effect of the following be on the calculated molecular weight of cyclohexane:

1) If a foreign solute was already present in the cyclohexane

2) If the thermometer is not calibrated correctly, and it gives a temp that is 1.5 degrees C too low at all readings.

THANKS

  1. The formula for plain cyclohexane is C6H12.  If there is another substance bonded to the cyclohexane, it's weight would be calculated right along with the weight of C6H12 when determining the weight of the whole thing.

The temperature doesn't effect the molecular weight.  You can get the molecular weight for each element from the periodic table and they don't change with temperature changes.
