Question:

What would be the ideal racket for me?

I've only been playing for 3 months and my coach said he sees potential in me. He wants me to get a new racket, but he wants me to get it on my own to see how much I know about them. Right now, I use a Wilson Nano and I don't like it too much.

I mainly only hit from the baseline. I'll go do some volleys sometimes, but I mainly stick to the baseline.

For a serve, I just serve with power. I only slice on my second serve, and my first serve is usually around 60-70 mph if it gets in.

Which racket would you recommend for me?

  1. I would recommend the kblade tour , even though its a 93headsize it takes time to get used to but it has awesome control and since its light you can get more racquet head speed on the serve.http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage...

  2. Get a light to medium weight long body racket. Wilson and Prince have good ones. String under sixty pounds to help you with your lack of power. Also remember that the key to a good first serve is getting it in, not how hard you hit the ball. If you consistently miss your first serve then your opponent gains an edge on your softer secon serve. Mix things up and keep him guessing.

  3. Hmmm...

Yonex RDS001 MP or RDS002 Tour. Both have are powerful if you have nice strokes. They are very good for topspin, serving, and fit any player whether he or she is a baseliner, serve&volleyer, or all-courter. Yonex is the best quality racket company. Made in Japan.

  4. Dog fighting.

  5. I would recommend a flexpoint fromt he head series. I, myself do not use them. But, the people on my team who do are very consistent on their shots and cosistency. I highly recommend it. There are many models to choose from.

    Good luck to you.

  6. You're mostly looking for what some call a tweener. It means it's a hyrbid of a pure spin racquet and a power racquet. Since you use pace as your weapon on serves but don't come to net often and I'm going to assume attempt more topspin from the baseline the racquet you want is a hybrid.

You want a light frame so less then 11 ounces, avoid head-heavy go with a head light racquet for maneuverability, medium power with a midplus head so 95-105 sq. in.

Since you are just starting don't go crazy. Prince and Head make some of the best racquets for starting out. Such as the Prince 03 Speedsport, Head Radicals or Metallix 4. Yonex RQS and Volkl DNX are also nice for your level.

I wouldn't break into Babolats or the heavier Wilsons until you have a few years under your belt. But I would consider getting a Head of Prince until you are around 3.0 then switching to a Babolat from 3.0 and if you make it to 5.0+ switch to Wilson tour racquets. Ask your coach what the NTRP ratings mean.

  7. For your level, you should go for the "low end high end."

let me explain, more expensive brands like Babolat and Prince offer some great intermediate racquets that are good quality, yet are at the low end price range (under $130)

You should try the Prince O3 Hybrid series, this involves the shark and the hornet (great racquets)

I also demo'd the Babolat NS Drive OS and it was a pretty good racquet . . . you should definatly give it a try
