  1. It depends a lot on the person and on the situation.

Most incest victims who are young would NOT trust others.

I've put a couple of useful links below.

If you suspect something, you can call the numbers below and discuss the situation with trained counsellors, anonymously and free of charge.

Please do so, if only to gain knowledge about this situation.

It could mean the greatest difference in a child or young person's life.

    Best wishes :-)

  2. People dont understand. Instead of giving you support and love, they treat you as you are dirty and an animal. When this happens, one feels hugely sensitive and any comment can ruin their self esteem. It takes love and support and constant perseverance to get back to normal, but it is always in the back of your mind and any relationships you form have this hanging over your head. It is not fair for the guy you date, they did no wrong but they pay the price. The family always pays the price the worst. We often hurt those closest to us when the attacker feels nothing. He is callous and nasty and does not care

  3. It depends on the person.  Sometimes victims of sexual abuse become fearful and withdrawn, sometimes they become bitter and aggressive, and sometimes they become inappropriately sexual.  Sometimes these behaviours cross over.  You never really know.

  4. a change in attitude, loss of interest in things the person enjoyed previously, a general withdrawal into one's self ( no interest in interaction with others) and intense fear of the opposite s*x among others.

  5. I became withdrawn and I started dressing very overly sexual and very flirty. BUT I wouldnt let anyone touch me and sometimes I was very aggressive it went in a cycle aggressive-sexually innapropriet-then very withdrawn and paranoid.

  6. Here are some descriptions of some of the many symptoms of those who have suffered rape, incest or molestation, both in how they relate to others and in general:

    Chronic fatigue

    insomnia

    headaches

    depression

    anxiety

    guilt

    nightmares

behavioral issues (in children, e.g. "acting out")

diminished interest in previously fun activities

    stomach ache

    bedwetting (in children)

feeling of foreshortened future. (i.e. that one will die soon, or      die young)

    flashback

    exaggerated startle response

    detached or estranged feelings/numbing

    sleeping long hours

    Lack of self-confidence/low self esteem

    poor problem solving abilities

    wandering attention

    feeling hopeless

    thoughts of suicide

    lack of energy

    depression

    likelihood of future abusive partners

    fears and phobias

    loneliness

    feeling helpless

    fear of being "crazy"

    rationalizing the abuse

    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

    Battered Women's Syndrome

    Stockholm Syndrome

    Learned Helplessness

    emotional sensitivity (taking things personally)

    rejection of compliments or praise

    obsessive thoughts

    difficulty saying "no"

    being overly trusting

    being overly guarded

    denial

    eating disorders

    learning disabilities

    distorted thinking

    projecting feelings onto others

    "all or nothing" mentality

    overeating

    dissociation

    defiance/non compliance

and so on, and so on, and so on... All of these have been shown to be significantly higher in those who have suffered sexual trauma. I realize that these can be alot to take in all at once, but it goes to show deep and diverse the effects of sexual abuse are. Most victims will experience quite a number of these all at once.

To break it down into more "bite-size" chunks, the quickest way to identify most sexual assault victims is by the following: depression and low self-esteem. Nearly all victims will display both of these, though some may be better at covering them than others.

I hope that helps to answer your question.
