Hi, everyone

We all know about luxury cruises, river cruises and so on.

I am curious, what other types of niche cruises might get popular in upcoming years?

Thanks,

  1. the Disney cruise line is building two new boats

  2. Places that are not inhabited by a lot of people and are remote. A lot of people want to go where no man has gone before if you know what I mean. They will want new and unusual places.

  3. "The Beaches of Antartica"

  4. Australia is popular now, and more than likely cruise lines will start to put more ships there as well as Auckland, New Zealand, The Black Sea, The Red Sea, Egypt, and Antarctica... (gotta go see the glaciers before they melt from the ozone)

  5. My bets are:

#1. Cruises catering to Europeans.  Their currency is strong, and cruise penetration is low

#2. Longer cruises of exploration.  Boomers are retiring with both time and money.  They like to think of themselves as explorers, but appreciate the low-hassle delights of having a luxury hotel follow them around

#3. If CBP's awful proposed Cabotage rules are imposed, most of the cruises departing from US ports will go away, so expect an upsurge in cruises departing from just over the border in Mexico and Canada.  Also more will go to Europe (see #1 above).

#4. "Deluxe" cruises.  Azamara and Oceania are plying these waters between Luxury and Premium.

Just my 2 cents.  Feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss in-depth trends study.  =)

  6. I would absolutely love a cruise to nowhere.   No ports of call, just 7 days of cruising, nothing to do but relax in a warm climate.

I live a hectic life in a very cold Minnesota, so please forgive this answer.

  7. Cruises to Asia are becoming more popular. They are also looking into exploring more of the middle east and making it a marketable cruise destination. Royal Caribbean has cruises to Asia and Costa offers cruises to the middle east and parts of Africa.
