What would be the problem with the wrestling fans?

who refuse to believe it's all just a show.

How obvious is it? The moves would kill if they weren't planned. They wear stupid costumes and bounce around like cartoon characters.

Don't you think it takes a really childish and naive mind to believe any of it is real?

Come on people. If you buy into unreality like this, no wonder our politics is such a mess.

Why do we want to believe in fantasy so much that we end up looking stupid?

  1. You're not the first person to figure out it's scripted.  Seriously.  This isn't some huge revelation.  It's not like wrestling fans are all morons that didn't see the light until you came along.  The only people who believe it's real are the little kids whose parents don't have the heart to tell them it's not.  So, by that logic, why don't you go find every little kid you can and also tell them there's no Santa Claus?

Hey, moron, your favorite show is fake, too.  Yet, I don't come and call you stupid for watching it, do I?  Personally, I have better things to do with my life than get on Yahoo Answers and complain that someone I've never met, or ever WILL meet in my life watches a TV show that I don't like.  Who the h**l are you to look down on ANYONE because of something as stupid and insignificant as what they watch on TV?

I don't watch House and say "WOW, that guy is one amazing doctor!  I hope if I ever get sick, I can go to there and have him treat my illness!"  The exact same way I don't watch wrestling and say "wow, those guys that are fighting aren't actually friends in real life.  Look at them actually hit each other!"

People aren't stupid for suspending their disbelief and watching a TV show.  What's stupid are the people who somehow think nobody REALIZES it's a show, and they think they're so much smarter.  So maybe take a second to climb down off of your high horse before you fall and hurt yourself.

  2. It's called Scripted Not Fake

and It makes me sick when Smart a$ses like you come into the section and run your mouth about something you know absolutely nothing about

  3. George W Bush beleives wrestling is completely real,

on a serious note, those people make us knowledged fans look bad because they become the stereotype of all wrestling fans

  4. i aggre with bian r , if you dont like it dont watch it

  5. Its a show. Its entertainment like watching passion of christ, superman or iron man. They are the same.Except wrestling has real things than movies

  6. if u dont like it dont watch it

  7. I agree with the first answer.

No one told you to watch it and no one told you to come on here and talk about it.

    TRUE KENNEDICT RIGHT HERE ♥

    I ♥ Mr. Kennedy

  8. I agree with a lot of the points you made here about the realism.

Sadly, the unrealistic happenings and such get WWE, and other wrestling organizations, attention from people in general who could never sit through a match with wrestlers using their real names. Neither can a lot of fans sit through a match without something "entertaining" or gimmicky in them.

I don't think anyone believes it's real. I think a lot of people treat the unusual nonsense and cartoonish antics as a part of keeping them interested in the show, and to make up for any entertaining factor that is lacking in the actual matches by themselves. I don't think they really want us to believe it's real, but to just be entertained by the moronic happenings. Personally, though, I wish Professional Wrestling had less gimmicks and stupidity to them, even if they "entertain" some people out there.

  9. You have no idea what being a wrestling fan means.  "Smarks" like to call wrestling fans who enjoy the shows "marks".  "Smarks" are just as confused as you are.  You, more than any wrestling fan who "believes the shows are real" typify the "smark" definition of the word "mark" (a gullible child who doesn't know the difference between "fantasy" and "reality").  Wrestling fans are just fine with suspending our disbelief, getting into the action and storylines, and just enjoying the show.  If you don't understand that, you need to step back and re-evaluate your own perception of "reality".

If you are the wrestling fan you claim to be, why are you bashing other fans?  If you are just a casual fan, that's cool, watch wrestling at the level you want.  There's no need to bash other fans who get more enjoyment from it than you do.

The problem with this section is that we all want to be considered "smart", so much so that few of us will admit to actually enjoying the shows.  Everybody criticizes and complains, bashes the wrestlers, the writers, even each other in our quest to be the "smartest" user here.  Those of us who ask and answer questions as if everything that happens is real are attacked and bashed more than anybody else.  Does anybody even know how to be a wrestling fan anymore?

EDIT:  I believe I've misunderstood the intent of your question, and I apologize for that.  If I (finally) understand you, you are questioning the "realism" in the WWE and their perception of what wrestling fans will accept.

Sadly, the WWE is the extent of most wrestling fans' experience with pro wrestling.  The WWE wants EVERYBODY to watch, so they try to give a little something to appeal to everybody.  In so doing, they have alienated (and sometimes lost) the long-time wrestling fan, such as you and I who grew up watching the likes of Haystacks Calhoun and Freddie Blassie.  Wrestling was "real" then, the characters and gimmicks were generally believable, the action in the ring certainly was.  But now the fans want over-the-top unbelievable ultra-violence, ridiculous characters, and soap opera storylines that have nothing to do with wrestling.  Everybody knows it's all "fake" so few take it serious.  "Exposing" this, as you have done, irritates the users here because you aren't laughing at the joke with them.  I know because some users here call me a "dinosaur" whining about wanting the 70's back, when I complain about the "unreality" in pro wrestling.  Most WWE fans won't watch other wrestling shows because they don't really care about the wrestling matches.  They want the ridiculous "aliens popping out of chests" they can ooh and ahh and laugh at.

    I apologize for misjudging you.
