My sisters friend would like for me to watch her 2 year old from 5 pm to 12 am 5 days a week, saturdays she may have to work intill close (she works at Taco Bell).... I have had alot of experience watching children, the problem is I am in the middle of finding a job so if I choose to take this job I need to make enough to live off, I am getting ready to go away to college so I still live at home but I am wanting to save as much money as possible, but since she does only work at taco bell what is the right price to charge?

  1. $100 (40 hours a week) a week is what i do here in VA

  2. I usually give 10$ per hour to my babysitter, but it is only some hours a week. In your case you need to decide a lump-sum. The good thing is that you can have a second job during the day, since you start at 5pm. You could probably charge something around 150$ a week, more or less, it is not that much but I don't think she could afford more than 600 dollars a month... Good luck!

  3. Hun, if she is working at Taco Bell, she can;t afford to pay you with enough money to live off of. At most, she makes $6.50 an hour, so she isn't going to pay you that much.

  4. you should discuss this with the person you are babysitting for as she is only working one job and it has to be affordable for her.

  5. Charge at least whatever is the going rate in your area for daycare. Up to you if you want an extra percentage for night work.

What you are doing is not babysitting. It is considered daycare and you have to report it for your taxes, because you better believe she will to get the child care credit!
