What would be the reactions if a Democratic VP candidate's unwed, 17-year old daughter were pregnant?

Do most Americans really care about what goes on with the children of candidates? Is it different when the child is still a minor?

This whole thing is so weird. Why would this come out now, instead of right away? I'm sure that anyone who knew about the pregnancy knew that there was no way to hide the information. It's good that they're standing by their daughter (as they should), but I'm still surprised that the campaign didn't simply make this public immediately. It's not anyone's right to get this information, but our society/media was going to find out and spread the news anyhow.

I am not going to comment because there is no chance in h**l that would happen. Instead of taking responsibility, they would just abort it.

Why do you think she got the job?  McCain's camp knew that Obama's camp is "right to choose"... and Obama said "But if they (his daughters) make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby"

That's kind of bad choice of words IMHO...

Also, this was McCain's chance to slap Hillary in the process...

My reactions would be the same as they are now:

1) Teenagers will make mistakes, especially about s*x.

2) This does not make them, or their parents, bad people.

3) When something like this, family values isn't about imposing your will, family values is about supporting and loving your family despite their mistakes without minimizing them either.

I would also reiterate that no matter what else you teach children about s*x, it is always prudent to remind them that abstinence is 100% effective against teen pregnancy.
