  1. Mike Phillips has just signed a contract for the Ospreys worth £180,000 a season for 4 years.

I think that £80.000 - £100.000 a season would be for a top player but think it is a lot less for squad players who dont play every week.

  2. I know that about 5 years ago a Premiership regular 1st team player (non international) would be on about 30-40K pa, not a lot considering the short career span.

International players make a decent wedge but still only in the hundreds of thousand, not the millions that footballers earn.

  3. Premiership clubs have a wage cap of £1,600,000.

Generally they'd earn £50,000-£80,000, although Ashton, the rugby league teenager who Northampton have just singed, is getting £140,000 per annum.

  4. Totally depends on who you're playing for and what you're worth to the club. Like any industry.

There are players on not much more than minimun wage, and there are players on 1million a year (after sponsorship)
