  1. positive-less worldwide population would lead to more resources per person and possibly a world wide uniting against a common foe.

cons -less diversity in culture, genetics and technology.  We would probably go through a new dark ages as people adjusted to the new environment.

  2. Short term - The survivors would probably feel that human life was at risk of extinction and with the higher per capita resourses would dig right in and create another baby boom.

Long term - Sadly - no effect at all.

  3. "Positive"- less strain on resources...world hunger in some spots would definitely go down because less people would be needing food.

Negative- Bloodshed, psychological problems (due to fear and trauma from seeing so much devestation), disease and malnutrition (sooooo many people will be malnourished and sick because even with less supply and lower hunger in some areas, areas with lots of bombing and killing will have fewer farmers and less supplies), collapse of different financial institutions, widespread poverty and high costs to revitalize areas...

  4. the first thing that comes to my mind is a large land grab.
