Three blades 63 feet long....other dimensions are given

  2. Generally about 120-180 ft.tall, bladespan depends. The exact size kind of depends on the make, but heres a website with a pic of one. Also the location and average wind speed are primary factors.

  3. 1MW? It's pretty big, the largest is about 5MW

    GE makes a 1.5M unit:

    tower is:

    Hub heights (m) 61.4+ / 64.7+ / 80+ / 85+

    Rotor diameter 77 m

  4. 1000 kW = 1 MW.

Modern wind turbines are typically 1.5 to 2.5 MW.  Offshore units are being developed are up to 6 MW.

The height of the turbine is determined by the local wind speeds and the diameter of the rotor (blades).

Below is a list of wind turbines offered by Vestes along with their electrical output (kW and MW).  The number after the "V" represents the diameter of the rotor.

    V52-850kW

    V66-1.75MW

    V80-1.8MW

    V80-2.0MW

    V90-2.0MW

    V90-3.0MW

Turbines used in wind farms for commercial production of electric power are usually three-bladed and pointed into the wind by computer-controlled motors.  These have high tip speeds of up to six times the wind speed, high efficiency, and low torque ripple which contributes to good reliability. The blades are usually colored light gray to blend in with the clouds and range in length from 20 to 40 metres (65 to 130 ft) or more. The tubular steel towers range from about 200 to 300 feet (60 to 90 metres) high. The blades rotate at 10-22 revolutions per minute.  A gear box is commonly used to step up the speed of the generator.
