What would be the total cost to take MTA trains from Garden City, Long island to White Plains, NY?

I'm not sure if it is expensive or not because im gonna need to get to white plains once every 2-3 weeks from garden city and I dont have a car.

  1. From Garden City (Zone 4) to NY Penn Station (Zone 1) fare is peak $8.50/off-peak $6.25.

    Then you need to take $2 subways in MetroCard.

    from 34th St-Penn Station/7th Av for uptown 1/2/3 to Times Sq, then 42nd St Shuttle or (7) to Grand Central.

    Metro-North's Harlem Line to White Plains cost you peak $8.75/off-peak $6.50.

    Purchase ticket from LIRR and MNRR from ticket vending machine or ticket window to avoid higher pay.


  2. From Garden City to Penn Station:  $8.50 (peak), $6.50 (off peak)

    From Penn Station to Grand Central (via subway # 1,2 or 3 to Times Square, then 42nd St Shuttle to Grand Central)  $2.00

    From Grand Central to White Plains:  $8.75 (Peak), $6.50 (off peak)

    Total one way is  $19.75 (peak)  $15.00 (off peak)

    Remember to buy your LIRR and MetroNorth tickets BEFORE you board the train.  Tickets purchased on the trains will be at least $5.50 higher.
