What would be the very first step to becoming a Flight Attendent?

I am researching different careers and I would love to be a flight attendant. Unfortunately, I don't know the first step to take. Do I contact an airline and ask for a job (send them a resume?) or what? And what is a good airline to work for right now? One that's not going to go out of business?

  1. Actually, flight attendants attend flight attendant school...try to locate a school first, then call them with your questions and request information...I know there is a school in California...I know of some people that went...Good luck!

  2. 1st contact the airline and got the HR person and interview by phone & in person, then if you are selected you are submmited to a trainning. It is not hard. I know tha Delta was axcepting applications and you just to be a poeple person.

  3. Just look at each airline individually.  They post periodically when they have openings.  Avoid Southwest, AA, Delta.  Try for the most solid ones like Continental.  Right now I doubt you will find calls foe flight attendants when the airlines are laying off employees due to the fuel prices.  If you want to look into it go ahead but I would wait till the situation stabilized.

  4. I have thought about this career as well but I couldnt figure out how to get into it either... I know it is a very difficult career to get into... you pretty much have to know somebody who already works for the airline and you have to be very pretty (I know everyone will say thats not true but go look at the flight attendants at the airport) They also prefer it if you can speak more than one language... such as french, spanish etc. Good luck anyways!

  5. i would try to get a job with the airline first...most of the people that i know who are flight attendants were ground agents, ticket agents etc before they became attendants.

  6. Being pretty such as you are is a good start. I wouldn't send a resume. I would bring it in person so they can see you and it shows you are more agressive in wanting the job. I read your profile. With those qualities, you would do well in dealing with the public in any job. Good luck to you. If you speak Russian as you say, apply there as well. They do like multi-lingual people especially the Russians.

  7. The very first step would be to make sure you have a high school diploma or GED, and are at least 20 years old. Most airlines will have job postings on their websites, so take a look around. It's a good way to also know about the airlines you are pursuing. You may be able to submit an application online, or find an address to send it to.

If an airline is not currently hiring, you can also apply for another position. It will get your foot in the door and you can learn about the airline. Plus most companies would rather hire from within than outside people.

  8. go onto their website and fill in the application form virgin airways have this option on their website
