If you got into both NYU and UMD college park, and NYU clearly turned out to be wayy more expensive than UMD?

Does reputation of the schools matter? What about area?

  1. The rep of a school only matters if you plan to apply for high class/paying jobs or if you plan to continue school after you leave said school.


  2. NYU is a money making school. everyone gets in. i think.

  3. Both are good schools. Reputation matters, sort of, if the choice is between an Ivy League or not. A well-rounded education and extra-curricular experience is more important, and, for many fields, a graduate degree is required--and, for that, you can think about a prestigious college.

  4. depends on what you want to major in.. i mean some careers are in such high demand you can get a job easily pretty much no questions asked, like a nursing degree.. but than there are the ones that certain colleges will make you look way more valuable. and reputation could mean everything,like an archology degree.

  5. What really matters is where do you feel you would get the best education?  Will you have access to professors or merely their assistants?  How about class size... are you one in 15 or one out of 300?  You'll do fine if you try to fit yourself to a college instead of trying to find a college to yourself :)
