  1. i do own land with my house on it in a high fire hazard area.  i have lived here over 25 years.  twice during that time wild fires went through my back yard.  both times i remained home and watched the fire department work.  those guys are the best.  both times it burn up to the point where i keep the brush cut down to under 4 inches.  i keep all brush under 4 inches for at least 100 feet from my house.  this gives the fire department a defensible area.  my house and all my belongings remain untouched from wild fires.  in case you are wondering where i live it is in the foothills surrounding a southern california valley - i wouldn't live anywhere else

  2. Depending on how much Time I had, I'd grab every item that was Important to me & Mine- & get out. The REST I'd leave to the Firemen...

  3. Around here, with tall trees close to the house---toss my dogs and cats in the van, grab my money, ID, cellphone and anything else I had time and room for, and be gone.

  4. Mow everything on my property, at the same time I'd have someone else throw everything burnable into boxes and load into a u-haul.

  5. I would take precautions before the threat ever existed, like keeping all grasses weeds bushes and trees cleared away, and then if the threat occurred, i would run to my pantry and get the marshmallows, and wait to call my insurance man

  6. id get only my necessary stuff i need and get important stuff like my cat kiki and domino my stuffed animal i had him since i was 3
