but think about why casino's and etc are around, THEY make money by the millions, where does it come from? potentially your pocket..... to win money i cant help, but for you to gamble you would have more of a chance of losing :p

Well counting cards is not illegal, the casinos just don't like it and if they catch you you will be thrown out. If your goal is to win a lot of money you should play progressive jackpot slots or lay down some parlay sports wagers. There are no guarantees however.

No matter what you will be risking your money. To make a lot,  "gamble" a lot (it is not "spending").

Long-term you will NOT probably beat the house at any game where the house sets the odds (blackjack, roulette, craps, etc.).

But if you read on-line reviews of the poker rooms, you will see which places have more "fish," that is inexperienced gamblers. It could be that you are the fish, however. So read and practice and then give it a try. That is why I would do, because you take the house out of the equation and you are playing mano mano

Poker, by and far away, you aren't playing against the odds that favor the house.  I would suggest learning PLO (pot limit omaha/hi).  Those games typically have the largest pots (much more so than nlhe).  Gamblers tend to play this game more and good tight play, and knowing your odds  (only game where the draws are generally favors over a made hand) makes for some phenominal action, pots, and wins.  I would suggest reading everything you can find on this game, and play it for a good bit online before you sit down at a table in Vegas though. A  2/5 blind structure game typically has pots in the thousands of dollars range, much for frequent than nlhe at the same stucture. I would also learn omaha 8ob (typically a limit game with a split pot).  The pots in the 2/4 games or 5/10 games (limit games) are typically higher than your 1/2 nlhe( the most common game spread).
