2003 Ford Escape. 58K mi. Never in an accident. Never sideswiped a curb or encountered any event to structurally weaken an axle. Brought it to a Ford Service shop for an inspection, fr brake repair and accel cable replacement (recall item). Picked up the vehicle drove it approx. 8-mi to get home and one of the rear CV-joints "broke", as per repair shop description. What are the odds? What could cause this sudden failure w/o preconditions? I'm suspecting dealership irresponsibility or intention. What do you think?

  1. its normal if you dont replace them when needed. dont ever buy a ford again

  2. the dealer should have noted the cv boot being torn , the axle cost about 50 dollars installition is easy and fast not more than half hour.

  3. I would guess your dealership did it but who knows for sure. One thing that somes to mind is the fact that it's a Ford. Trade it in on a real car...Chev!

  4. The boot that cover the bearing Assembly may have tore and messed the     bearings up.The black rubber boots that shield dirt and stuff.

  5. It's a Ford.  That's what they do.
