Question:

What would cause a car to stall while driving and later that day not start at all?

I was driving and it stalled on me. After about 15 mins it started and drove fine all day. Later that evening it wouldn't start at the store when trying to leave. It doesn't make any noises outside of the starter. The engine doesn't turnover from the starter but I am wondering if the starter would have also caused it to die like it did earlier? It's an older car, 90 Honda Accord. Thanks for any help!

  1. You could have two problems-

One  in the engine control system, maybe a bad temp sensor or MAF.

The other may just be the starter. I have seen starters fail to disengage, due to a bad Bendix or relay. But my guess is that it is just the starter.

  2. Electrical problem my friend.

Have a look at the battery. Are the terminal corroded.

Did a belt brake. Don't bet on it being the starter.

Have it diagnosed properly by someone with some experience behind them.  ie ( a repair shop )

Do you have AAA road help...?
