Whirlpool Dishwasher approximately 10+ years old.

Water laying inside the dishwasher.

Was midway through the first wash cycle.

Dishwasher does have power to it, but when you move the dial to different settings, it does not turn on.

Just had a new drain (for sink and dishwasher) installed by a plumber.

Could the drain be plugged/not hooked up? Could the motor just have gone?

  1. If the water level is too high the water level shut off switch could have cut the unit off.  If you had a garbage disposal installed there is a knock-out in the garbage disposal where the d/w drain hose installs that must be removed or the d/w won't drain.  If the unit was moved, it's possible the wire nuts came loose in the junction box of the d/w.
