What would cause a "touch" lamp to come on in the middle of the night?

This has happened twice in the past 6 months. I can't reach the lamp from my bed, but I've woken up and the lamp has been on...the first time on the dimmest setting and the last time on the brightest setting. I know I don't sleep walk and I know my husband hasn't turned it on. I was home alone the last time it happened.

Some are more sensitive than others. I've seen them turn on by a fly landing on them.

Happens at my house often.  Usually it's fixed by making sure the light bulb is screwed in tight enough.  Kinda freaked me out the first few times!

angels passed through on their way checking on you.  Its a plausible answer, but if it were me, I'd appreciate the angels, but would chuck the light and get a new one.
