What would cause ice in an automatic ice maker taste like dirt,?

  1. I bet you have a calcium and lime buildup in the ice mold.

    remove it from the ice box and clean it with a little ice machine cleaner.


  2. Maybe its the container.. I'm not sure.. I was going to say the filter... but since thats changed... well, i dont know.

  3. Ice cubes pick up odors from the inside of the freezer and refrigerator--especially from open food containers. Clean out the freezer and it should go away.  To minimize that problem, empty the ice cube bin from time to time, and start with a fresh set of ice cubes.  You can find this on the Internet if you put in the words, ice maker bad smell.  Hope this helps.

  4. check where the water line hooks up to the sink. there could be rust gettin in there too, from some of your pipes somewhere.
