  1. if you don't have a check engine light on you may have a fuel pump getting weak on it or the filter may be causing this to happen to it,have the computer scanned to see if it will give you any trouble codes then have a pressure test done on the pump, this may tell you exactly whats causing it to do that,i wouldn't start buying parts and putting on it until i knew for sure,i have seen people spend 3-400 hundred bucks on things they didn't need, just because they wanted to repair it their self, that gets way to expensive after a while, good luck .

  2. My 02 Ram did that too.  Trade it in,  you are in for  a world of problems with it!

  3. I'd run some gas treatment in your tank after replacing the gas filter and then run about 2 or 3 more tanks and replace filter again bec if last owner ran on a low tank a lot this should help clean the c**p out.

There also is a part that you'll find connected via vac lines to your EGR valve that can cause that type of problem too but I'd try to find a good used one from a do it yourself wrekers or a basic auto wreckers.

Basically sooner or later the problem should end up being recorded by the main comp=ECM and it could take awhile before the engine light comes on with such a code too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.Keep in mind that bec you just bought this vehicle a few regular maintance repairs should be performed like maybe a basic tune up, changing of oil, checking the air filter and PCV valve and fuel regulator etc.

  4. Clean the thottle body first. The stalling might happen  more with the AC on.

There is a TSB (technical service bulletin)  for 4.7 litre engines stalling when cold.

  5. there are several possibilities. an EGR stciking, a bad idle air control valve,  are some, Could also be lock-up torque convertor too. Good luck.

  6. There could be several reasons. Most likely its fuel system related, seeing it starts right back up. What i recommend is putting some fuel cleaner (about 3 dollars from walmart) and put it in your tank when your right around an eigth of a tank, drive it around about 5 miles, stopping hard but not slamming on your breaks (stopping hard at like side road stop signs, or just in a parking lot). This will mix the contents with your gas. Then, after about 5 miles, put gas in your tank. This will clean out your injectors and any gunk in your gas tank. This is the most common fuel system problem that would make your car die. I know the bottle will say add to full tank, but dont. Its a market scam to make you get more (the less gas in your tank, the more concentrated it is).

If that doesnt work, i recommend taking it to O'reily's. They have an electronic gauge that can be hooked up and tell what fault code is throwing. If there isnt one, try using octane booster (about 6 dollars). This is a high temp burning fuel that should further clean your fuel system. If this doesnt work, you going to need to take it to someone that knows more about cars, it will need to be on the spot diagnosed. This should work though. It could be as simple as your idle not being high enough (older "new" trucks have this problem sometimes). Is it sputtering when you stop (like shaking a little)? Are the RPMs really low when your stopped? If so, then you may either have a spark plug wire crossed or one out (not misfiring anymore). Have you had work done to it recently?
