What would cause my light to go on and off and my tv channels to change by them selves?

Sometimes, fluorescent lights can interfere with the remote control receiver in your set. If your light is fluorescent, it may be faulty, or there may be a bad connection in the wiring or the switch. Turn the light off to prove/disprove the TV interference aspect. Replace the fluoro tube to see if that fixes the light on/off problem. If it is not fixed, you will need an electrician. If the TV still spontaneously changes channel with the light off, remove the remote control from the room. If that stops the problem, repair/replace the remote control. If channels still spontaneously change, you will need TV repair, or perhaps bin it, and buy a new one.

Fairies, no seriously I don't know. It's possible you have some electrical short, or perhaps it could be paranormal.

I think you should call a proper electrician home and get all the equiptment and the wiring checked.
