Question:

What would cause my rear wheel to stick?

I only drive my car every 2-3 days. It is a 1995 Toyota Corrolla. The rear wheel was stuck today. I drove it for about 5 yards and it felt like driving a standard shift car with the parking break on. There is no such break on my car so I know that is not the problem. It broke free when I drove the car in reverse to put it back in the driveway. It is fine now, and I can drive it easily.

This has happened before, but it usually breaks free withing 2 feet of starting. Why is this happening and what can I do about it?

  1.   I recommend taking the car to a brake shop for a brake INSPECTION ONLY. Check the local fliers for a free brake check. Take the results to someone you trust then make your decision.

Agreed brakes are to important to ignore

  2. It sounds like your brakes are sticking, or you might have a seezed brake piston. You have a emergency brake on the car just make sure thats not on. It might be time for a brake job.

  3. Most likely broken return springs. You should get it checked asap. It wont fix itself, breaks are too important to ignore. Be prepared to have them replaced but it is possible that just the springs could be replaced. It will depend on the amount of damage already done.

Also your car does have a park break. Every car does.
