  1. yup,

you have djd (degenerative disc disease) aka arthritis. you probably have some bulging disc too, in your lumbar area. I have the same stuff. Sucks to get old I guess.

hope this helps don't worry its not the end of the world just achy in the am is all use some aleve works great for me

    phil

  2. I have something very similar to this,

it's caused by the muscles knotting up very badly and not letting enough blood flow into the muscles in that area...

  3. sounds like somthing could be pushing on a nerve.......why did u wait so long to go to a dr? the back isn't something to mess around with, i know i have a bad one myself and it is no fun

  4. How old is your bed?  If it is more than 10 years old you might want to check out a new bed.  If you can get your doctor to prescribe it you can deduct the cost of the bed from your income tax.  A new bed may not be a cure but it might make the mornings better.  Go to the store and check out different beds.  Have your partner go with you if you have one and spend 10 - 20 minutes on each bed before you choose.  I do not have back problems or arthritis but I bought a new bed after only 10 years and it makes such a difference.  Some people keep their beds for too long.  Check out Tempur Pedic and beds like that.  I think they are called memory foam.

  5. it sounds like you may have something called degenerative disk disease. this develops over years and happens to a lot of people as we get older. our bodies break down and years of physical stress take their toll on our spines. sounds like the lumbar part of your spine may be affected. L5 to S1 is a possibility. the disk ( gel like substance between the vertebrae) may have slipped out ie: herniated and may be pressing on your nerves. or if you have been in an accident like a motor vehicle or something that may have caused injury to your neck or back. injury is an other cause for herniated disk. i would make certain your dr. orders an MRI asap. the feeling of being paralyzed can be serious. meaning, your in pain now but it could be getting worse. like losing control of your bladder and bowels. i am currently going through the same problem and pain. you can go to webmd.com and read all you would ever want to know about herniated disk and other related back topics. hope you feel better soon and gd lk at the dr.'s office.
