What would cause this medical problem?

This only happened to me two times. It was late at night and I woke up itching really bad. Then I started to scratch and I started burning. I felt like I was on fire. I started screaming. I ran into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My skin was firetruck red. Then I went blind for a few minutes and fell out in the bathroom floor. My boyfriend saw me and picked me up and put me in the bathtub and ran cold water on me, but that just made me burn more. I didn't take any drugs or anything what would cause something like that to happen to me.

totally sounds like an allergic reaction... although the sudden-ness of it makes it questionable. Have you talked to a nurse or seen your DR? Also is there any way ants can get into your house? I had a similar reaction when a little red ant bit my thighs, hurts like the dickens.
