Like a big chunk a glass ?

When I was younger I got HUGE CHUNKS in my foot and it was bleeding really bad and we had to put over 100 badaids and tape on it just so we could get to the hospital and I wouldn't loose any more blood.

If its like that you need to get to the hospital !

They put you to sleep and remove it than stitches !

Like they were removing a splinter. The area may have to be lanced a bit if it is deep - but pretty painless. There are many other painful things to have to go through in life, like child birth.
