  1. WW3. The USA leadership is known for their hysteria and paranoia. The EU leadership is legendary for its secrecy and back room dealings. It would be the cold war all over again.

  2. Britain doesnt bridge the divide if there is one, the British govt stands with America, while France and Germany opposed Iraq, and were right: there are no WMD there

  3. Europe would be isolated. as would we.

  4. Obama did travel to Europe recently, especially Berlin, so the premise of your question is not quite right. There is no particular reason why Sarko would need GB to communicate with the US. He can talk direct.

However, during the lead-up to the second Iraq war, there was a headline in a newspaper saying that the British do the diplomacy and the Americans write the cheques, so in a time of crisis, we do have a role to pay.

  5. Europe would be better off.

  6. we already are stopping...sadly.....blair saw it as essential to the UKs welfare if we had the USA in our side......I dont think its true....but now we are closer the the US than europe....the rest of europe dosent see us as being "like" them....the french recently voted england out of something becase we done share "the same values" as the rest of europe.....d**n....just wish could remember what it was.

hink the result will be that we are isolated and that we might get taken advantage of by the USA....well, but the presidency, not by the US ppl as its not their fault.

  7. There would be absolute chaos!

  8. Good question, I think America and Europe would end up like Britain and Russia and probabaly even get a lot worse. Continental Europeans can be very stubborn especially France, Germany and Italy, they are the bitchy teenage girls of Europe and without Britain they would end up just having little hissy fits with the rest of the world.

  9. Someone else would fill the breach.

  10. Europe is a huge market place for the US as is the US for Europe and that is with or without Britain. Our role in this should not be overstated as if we were not there then the trade would continue over our heads and we would probably be isolated.

The US policy, I believe, has always been that Britain was/is a great ally but that friendship/usefulness is only of real use and value if part of the European community.

  11. Britain doesn't bridge the political divide between the USA and Europe.  Get over yourselves.
