What would happen if I bought a stolen motorcycle?

I'm not sure if its stolen but the guy who's selling it is a sketchball and he is giving me an unbeleivable deal so i feel like it might be. The title is not signed by him. What could happen if i bought this bike and then it was found out to be stolen. Also, could I even legally register it if the title wasn't signed by him

  1. If the OWNER doesn't sign it over to you then you don't legally own it and it would be taken away.

  2. You'll pay the money and the bike will be taken away from you.  You will not be able to register it and you will not get your money back (unless you sue the person you bought it from and are actually able to collect from a thief).

  3. Don't be a weeping willy. Seller signs the title or NO DEAL.  Actually the thing smells anyway. Move on. If you buy a stolen motorcycle you lose. And you'll be investigated, who is to say your not part of a disposal ring of crooks?

  4. I am a little confused by your comment about the title not being signed by the owner. Are you saying that it has been signed by the previous owner and the current 'owner' never registered it in his name? If so, it may be legal but you should probably check with your local PD to see if it has been reported stolen. Also check the numbers on the registration with the ones on the bike to make sure it is the same one.

  5. Get the VIN from him, double check it is actually the VIN on the bike (steering column SHOULD have a VIN plate, if not it's stolen), and have a cop run it through the NHTSA database, he can tell you immediately if it is reported stolen or not.  Don't buy a stolen bike, even if you don't have moral objections, you can't get it legally registered and thieves don't take care of stolen bikes anyways!  Karma will bite you on the *** if you do.

  6. you couldnt register it because you have to have the VIN # on the registration papers and when they run them it will be found to be stolen, also you would be going to jail, so get the vin numbers and take them to the police and run them.

  7. You would lose it to the rightful owner.

  8. "What would happen if I bought a stolen motorcycle?"

    1. You would be out the money you paid.

    2. If it was reported stolen and you knew it was stolen (like now) and you were pulled over, you would be thrown in jail.

Pull your head out, the bike is hot.

  9. don't even think about buying it . that thing is soo hot its on fire dude. walk away and go find another bike that the seller is the owner and the title is clean. does 15 years being some dudes ***** in jail sound like a good thing to you.it doesn't to me

  10. You can only get legal title from the person that holds that title. You cannot get clear title even if the person that sells it to you doesn't know it is stolen.

Get the VIN checked out. If it is stolen, assist the police in checking out the current "owner".

  11. You have reasons and feelings why this motorcycle may be stolen and the seller to be not so trustworthy.  Go with your feelings and stay away from this sale.

  12. Also does the idea of a 9X12 room for 5 yrs appeal to you???

You will be reciving & be in possesion of stolen property

And dont expect him to take the fall for you

Have you ever heard the name "  CHUMP" ?

get real Cuz the FN things is hot stay the h**l away from it

I dont care if its a $35K Chopper it aint worth your a-s

  13. That would be dishonest and a crime.

If you are willing to throw away the rulebook, live life on cheat mode and then stand before God  with that, I would suggest thinking of better crimes.

With this crime you are still paying money, going to all this trouble to get it licensed and still have to be looking over your shoulder and when you are caught because you don't sound very bright it is going to cost you way more than you ever saved.

The instant Karma that could come while riding a stolen bike, not good.
