What would happen if I don't pay my negative balance back to the bank?

My checking account with a bank is currently overdrawn by $450 because they paid a check my wife wrote at walmart. I don't use this bank anymore and already have checking accounts at 2 other banks, and my wife and I just filed bankruptcy and I just don't have the money to pay them back. I assumed when I found out she wrote said check that they would return it and then they would do whatever they do with a bad check. So what would happen with the bank deal would they just send it to collections, or would they actually sue for that little of an amount, and if so would I be given a final opportunity to pay it before they brought suit. Any advise would be appreciated, and please don't give me answers about me being a deadbeat, I filed a chapter 13 bankruptcy and am actually trying to do right by the people I owe money to its just that my wife one day decided she would go write a bad check for stuff she didn't need without telling me, and now I'm stuck with this with no way to pay it back. So i'm just trying to find out what would happen if I didn't pay them.

  1. yes it does go to collection but first it goes thou court so they add fees from court and collection fees too.this has happened with my brother and then you are given so much time to pay it off. this happens all the time my other friend is going though this too his whole thought was i have nothing so what the h**l  why not spend a little money on himself .now there in court the fees are up there and i know you have a form that asks you about your bills and other bank accounts so i would change all that over to someone you trust cause they check all that stuff out. if you own or rent is on there just look out cause you wont be able to open another bank until its all taken care of.

  2. It's a debt, just like any other.  Check with your attorney.

  3. I had a wife like that, first thing I did is get her out of my checking account, 10 years of a horrible life with her later I got her out of my house, I took my children with me. Unfortunately a Bad check is a document you are responsible for. Find the way to pay it even if is little by little, talk to some one that can do something about it  and make an agreement, even a collections agency will settle for partial payments. Face this problem right away deal with it for it will not go away but will hunt you over and over through the years. In the best of the cases your economic life will change for the better but if you didn't deal with this problem in time it will grow and hold you down.
