  1. NO, NO, NO, Removing IE will NOT get rid of your infection. Run LOT's of different anti-malware programs.

See the site below, it will help.

  2. If IE is your only browser, you wouldn't have any way of downloading a new copy.  The Trojan resides on your computer in a separate file and the chances are that deleting IE wouldn't get rid of it.  When you load up your new copy of IE, it would become infected and the registry would change.

  3. Trojan Virus will still be there in the registry. convenient way to remove it is to use a trojan remover here http://spywaretrojanremover.com/compare

  4. Removing IE won't kill the trojan virus because it loads up when Windows does and only manifests itself when you're on the internet.

Your best bet would be to run a virus scanner.  There are two free online ones.  Housecall and BitDefender.

If you don't want to do that, you could always uninstall IE and download a different browser.  FireFox seems to be the most popular alternative.

  5. You cannot remove internet explorer so don't try:

    How to remove a trojan:

    1. turn off system restore

    2. re boot in safe mode with networking

    3. do a free online scan:

    4. re boot if clean turn on system restore.

    tip:

download free superantispyware when it ask to you want to protect your home page tick yes - this will protect your internet explorer.

  6. You shouldn't need to, and you can't do it with any version of Windows post 98 - After this, ie is an integral part of Windows.

You are using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut - use a good Antivirus (Try AVG Free). If AVG can't fix it, it's not a Trojan virus.

  8. You cannot remove IE, it is part of the operating system (This is not an entirely true statement, but lets not get technical).

You need to try to fix your registry.

Kaspersky is perhaps the best anti-virus you can find.

    http://usa.kaspersky.com/trials/home-use...

You can use it for free for 30 days (long enough to clean up your PC). If you want to keep it after that, its up to you.

In the meantime, or from here on out, you should use a safer browser. Use Firefox

A fresh copy of windows will cost you money. Unless its illegal; if its illegal you are guaranteed to another virus though (Microsoft does not patch illegal software any more).

  9. Hi,

I'm fairly new to the world of Computers and the Internet so you can imagine how I felt when I too recently had a problem with a Trojan on my computer.

My firewall initially detected and blocked the Trojan and my anti virus program also agreed there was a problem but was unable to remove it as the Trojan kept recreating the file.

After trying several spyware products, the only one that successfully detected and removed the Trojan was Spyware Remover.

You can download a free demo version which detects any problems your computer may have but doesn't remove them.

If it finds your Trojan you can then buy the full version and solve your problem, but if it fails to find it, then it hasn't cost you anything.

    I hope this helps. www.thespywareadwareremover.com

  10. First of all, before doing anything, read this previous Yahoo Answers thread about uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 that had over a dozen replies.  My answer was chosen as the best in that thread and you'll get my best shot for your question too. :-)

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

You don't ever want to be in a situation where you have NO browser on your computer at all.  That would be BAD News!

If you did uninstall IE7, that would probably bring back IE6 assuming you upgraded at some point (unless it's a new pc).

If you still have that same trojan virus present, it might attach itself to that just as it did to IE7 anyhow.  So...  Getting rid of the trojan itself is the goal you actually want to accomplish.

When I get a virus or malware that I can't get rid of, what I do is go seek out experts in a forum dedicated for just that purpose.  There are quite a few of them out there, so you can decide which one you like the best.  Assuming you know the name of the trojan, find a forum that includes a thread  where somebody else with the same trojan you have got rid of it successfully!

Almost all the best ones will ask you to first get and install HijackThis - a free program that will report what software and BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) are currently installed on your pc.

    http://majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Above is where you can get HijackThis.  You'll see a warning there this program is for Advanced users only (which is true).  But, you are getting it to make a report to SHOW to advanced users.  Often they will tell you to get rid of X, Y or Z and then run another HijackThis report and post that as well.

    http://forum.securitycadets.com/index.ph...

Above is one such security forum where they will want to see your HijackThis report first in order to be able to assist you.  I am not saying this is the best place to go, but it would be worth searching to see if there's a fix for the trojan you have.

If/when you post the report it generates into an active security forum dedicated to fixing trojan, spyware, malware/scumware issues, you will probably get several opinions on what to do.

In short, find out exactly how someone else got rid of same problem you have and do the exact same thing that they did!

If you do not have Firefox yet, get that as well because it's much more safe (and faster to boot) than Internet Explorer.

    http://www.firefoxgoogletoolbar.com/

I'd suggest using the fastest (and safest) browser and fastest search engine all in one application.  You can get both Firefox AND Google Toolbar at once from the above site.  The download file itself comes direct from Google, so you know that will be safe.

You should also check for other problems on your pc by installing AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy from the below links too.

    http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/30...

    http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-De...

The latter of these 2 has an Inoculation feature to help prevent this stuff getting on your computer in the first place!

I will also suggest you get and run CCleaner (c**p Cleaner) and Win CleanUp! before you go post to any security forum.

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

Above program has now been downloaded over 165 Million times!  If it didn't work, it's doubtful it would be so popular, right?

    http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?opt...

I think it's best to run CCleaner FIRST, then run CleanUp! as a double-check.  I like toilet-flushing sound when this is done!

It IS safe to run both of those with the basic default settings and you might be Amazed at how much bad stuff they'll get rid of, giving you extra room on your hard drive for good stuff.

ALL of the software I have suggested here is totally FREE!  If someone is suggesting software that costs money, they may be trying to get a commission (on a less effective program).

    Good Luck!
