Question:

What would happen if a pitcher did this in the World Series?

Let's say its game 7 of the WS and the NL team is at home. One team is undermanned and has no chance to win because their starting pitcher sucks. The other team has a superstar ace going. What would happen if the crappy pitcher purposely tried and did injure the star pitcher during his at-bat and because of that, his team went on to win the series. What would be the repercussions? Couldn't they claim it was an accident? Do you think the other team would try to bean the other team's pitcher and the game would turn into a world series brawl? Any specific instances of when this has happened?

  1. usually in a 7 game series they have their best 4 starters going so i would hope they wouldn't have a crappy pitcher for game 7.

  2. 1.) The pitcher would be ejected, fined, and -- if your scenario played out exactly as you say -- banned. No team would ever hire him. His team would be fined.

2.) In the brawl that followed the injury, the other team and the fans would whup-up on that team, so they probably wouldn't win.

3.) In severe cases like that, the commissioner (not Bud Selig, mind, but a real commissioner) would probably cancel the game and have it replayed from the start.

4.) They would have to put metal detectors in every stadium after that because of the fans preparing for it happening again.

Or something even more dire than all of the above. Don't worry about it.

  3. dude great question! i would think they a total d!ck would do that but hey theres a lot of them in MLB. but i think that the AL teams pitcher would bean the NL pithcer with like a very hard fastball

  4. realistically, the crappy pitcher would get tossed from the game and someone else (even a position player) would have to pitch...this would result in lots of walks and crappier pitches which would ensure that the better pitcher's team won...

  5. How in the blue h**l would any team have a crappy pitcher to compete in Game 7 of the World Series? If that's the case, I must question how they even GOT there in the first place...

  6. Vg question. I think the home team wouldn't hesitate to hit the others team's best hitter. Also, that would never happen cause the AL will never lose :)
