I mean, that could really happen if you think about it because you never know what mother nature can do. What would we do if we could do anything at all for that matter.

  1. Not possible....(if it did then "help us lord')

  2. That would be The End of The World.

Hurricances can happen ONLY over very large bodies of water -- oceans.  Not big lakes. Not even the Great Lakes.

A hurrican is driven by the heat energy stored in the warm water. Once a hurricane "comes ashore" (crosses land) it begins to die. Wind speeds slowdown, and it dumps a LOT of rain.

So states like Montana or South Dakota simply cannot have hurricanes. In fact, it would be very unusual (almost impossible) to have a true hurricane farther north than Tennessee.  Any storm that was still a true hurricane (winds more than 70 miles per hour) in Tennessee would have been so strong as to completely destroy the coastal cities.  Even Katrina didn't do that.

Even very powerful hurricanes seldom make it more than a couple of hundred miles inland.  I remember one hurricane that hit Texas, then "rolled up" to Illinois.  But by the time it reach Illinois it was no longer a hurricane, but just a group of  thunderstorms.

The fact is, you need to live very close to an ocean before you have to worry about hurricanes.

  3. No, it really couldn't happen because hurricanes use warm ocean water as fuel, and they eventually die out when they get farther up on land because they run out of "fuel"

  4. I hate to get technical, but the inland states could never have a hurricane because it would weaked dramatically by the time it got to the inland states.  Really the coasal states are the only states than can have hurricanes. I know you are asking what if, and i don't think you want to hear my answer, but it's the truth.

An answer to your question, there would just be flooding and damage in more than one place at the same time.

  5. We would say goodbye earth.

    But seriously, this couldn't happen.

Everywhere you live experiences different phenomenon.

East coast and gulf experience the hurricanes.

    There is Tornado Alley

and There is California with all the earthquakes.

Everyone has different phenomenons, because if there was one place that experienced it all all the time, that place would be h**l.

  6. that would make for an awesome storm chasing season. This is my first year storm chasing and I really want good footage. Hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning shows, snow storms, etc.

  7. We would all buy some popcorn and Raisinettes because that would only ever happen in a movie. A bad movie.

  8. Well actually, it couldn't happen. Most hurricanes happen in warm, humid and coastal areas like Louisiana, Florida, etc. States like Kansas, Illinois, Nebraska... could NEVER have hurricanes. I think what your question should be is... what would happen if all the hurricane-prone areas had hurricanes, and all the tornado/earthquake-prone areas and tornadoes and earthquakes ALL at the same time? I think it would make for a much more interesting scenario too.

    :)
