Not that I wish that would happen; I am a staunch believer in the 2nd amendment as it pertains to individuals. But I am curious, those who do believe the 2nd amendment should be repealed, what do you think the outcome would be?

  1. you could simply refer to the laws on limiting firearms for your answer... criminals still have guns, you think they are going to wait the 30 days or whatever to purchase a guns...

  2. The British would return and reclaim what is rightfully ours!

  3. The criminals would still get guns through black market, and the rest of us law abiding citizens would have no way to protect ourselves.

  4. We'd have to overthrow the government and re-establish the Constitution. Pretty much what the founders had in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment in the first place.

  5. Knife fights.

  6. This probably...

As an aside, I think it's funny how people think the second amendment was only meant to be for technology used in that time.

Perhaps freedom of speech, the press, and religion should not be allowed on TV or Radio because those weren't around  in the later part of the 1700s.

  7. More Bow & Arrow use as well as more stabbings.

  8. Then only criminals would have guns.  The law abiding citizens would be nearly defenseless.

That is, unless we tax everyone to death so we can afford a cop in every home 24/7.

  9. No need to outlaw guns, just make bullets cost 5 grand apiece.

  10. Only the police and criminals would have guns.

The second amenment should not repealed and if it was...... More criminals would have guns and would be more inclined to commit crimes knowing most other people would not have them to fight back.

  11. In Darfur Sudan they made a gun ban and the violence sky rocketed. This is what I think, bad people are going to get guns no matter what. Might as well let the good people have one to defend themselves. Tennessee allows you to carried a gun and their crime rate is very low.

"Guns kill people like spoons make Rosie O'Donnell fat"

  12. CC obviously hasn't checked any stats lately.  The U.S. doesn't even make the top ten for per capita murders.

    #1 Honduras - 154 per capita

    #2 Swaziland - 121

    #3 South Africa - 93

    #4 Lesotho - 70

    #5 Rawanda - 50

    #10 Jamaica - 37

Even Bolivia has 32 murders per 100,000 people.

    The U.S. has 6.2.

  13. The government would continue to suppress our constitutional rights.  The next would be the rights to free speech and assembly. because you have to "round up all those trouble makers whining about the second amendment". then , they would repeal the right against unreasonable search and seizure, and the right against self incrimination. People would be rounded up and tortured into confessing in plots that never existed so the government could justify more draconian measures to "safeguard freedom"  The fact that we have an armed citizenry is a check and balance on the government. it is the right, along with freedom of speech, that allows all other rights to exist

Ok, actually most of this is starting to happen already, But as long as people speak out against the tyranny, and vote for new leadership to show their disapproval. We can get most of our freedoms back.

  14. You'd have a lot of people breaking the law. Banning guns would be about as successful as prohibition of alcohol has been in the past...

The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with some God-given right to own a gun. It was created to maintain a standing militia that could resist an invasion from the British forces. It was also referring to as one person said, Muskets. Guns that were less effective then bows and arrows (The only reason they were even used over bows is that the learning curve for your average citizen to become competent with a musket was significantly lower then that to become competent with a bow. They were otherwise lower ranged, slower to reload and less accurate then a bow).

  15. Then only criminals would have guns since by definition criminals do not give a flying she-it about laws. Laws do not stop anything they merely define punishment for those caught AND convicted. Morality can not be legislated, never has worked and never will work.

  16. Mike T got it right. Other ammunitions will gain prominence. Or the use and trade of illegal firearms will see a sharp raise.

  17. Just look at the UK, illegal fire-arms started to become imported from Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East etc... Then the knife crimes began to rise........

  18. We already know what would happen.  Only the criminals would own them.  Laws only work for the law-abiding.  Criminals don't care.

  19. The people who follow laws would not have them to protect themselves and the people who could care less would have them and use them anyway.  Just because you pass a law does not mean people follow it.

  20. I don't know, but I'm a big fan of interpreting the second amendment to mean the arms available at the time it was framed.

Everybody's allowed to have a one-shot black powder musket. You can't exactly mow down a mall full of people with it, can you?

I don't imagine the Founding Fathers ever foresaw automatic weapons and armor piercing bullets.

  21. Criminals would get their guns no matter what, and their victims would all be defenseless.

  22. I'd keep mine.

" You can take my gun when you pry it from my cold ,dead hand"

" If guns are outlawed, the outlaws will still have guns"

  23. I imagin this question was directed at Americans, but it's as simple as looking to other countries where fire arms have been banned to see what the outcome would be.

Countries like Canada, England and Germany all have very strick gun laws, and by capita, have far fewer shootings and overall murders. The US has the highest murder rate in the entire first world and has the most guns. Because the more guns that are in circulation, the more is available to criminals and people who become criminals.

  24. The criminals would still have guns and regular citizens would be helpless to defend themselves. People should have the right to defend themselves, their family, their home and property.

I'm Canadian and support the American right to bear arms. It should be a right that everyone responsible citizen has.
