  1. yes the other engine kicks in and can take over kinda like an auto pilot

  2. Well, the first thing that would happen would be an attempt by the pilot for an inflight restart.  When pilots go through training instructors are known to intentionally kill a few engines without warning to test the students knowledge and ability to handle that kind of stress.

But if the engine wouldn't come online then an emergency landing would be made at the nearest airport.  (Any thought that they would risk passengers lives because the plane can fly on two engines is stupid.)

Planes are built to be redundant in order to save lives.  But the redundancy would be pointless if the pilot acted as if things were normal with a less than fully mission capable jet.

  3. yes it could

  4. With all engines knocked out, they can glide about 400 miles

  5. A 747 can continue with one engine working either side.

It pays to have a spare.

  6. Yes it could continue its journey without any problems and land safley with one or even 2 engines not working.

  7. It can continue but they normally make emergency landings at the nearest airport. They increase the throttle to the still operable engine so it takes over the duties of the failed engine....but if both engines fail......well let's just say that the coroner is going to be busy....
