What would happen if i dyed my betta's water wih food coloring?

would it harm my betta if i put in a couple drops of blue food coloring in his water???

Yes.

Bettas Are Very Hardy Fish, But this Does NOT mean you may put contaminants in their water. This Makes it impossible for the fish to breathe clean, uncontamanated water.

idk just kidding.. I wouldn't do that 'cause bettas need their water to be perfect for them you know? You take so much care for a betta cleaning out the water and rocks and all that stuff.. This one time some glitter landed from a christmas ornament into my sisters betta tank and killed him cause' we assumed he ate it. Also he's been living for almost a year. I dunno if bettas swallow the water around them too along with swimming up to take a breath..

I guess blue water would look cool, maybe a blue light would look even cooler!!

yes it would think of this a betta breathes the water through his gills and he would take in the chemical and die don't do it

It probably wouldn't hurt.

I just got a betta yesterday and I SWEAR there is blue food coloring in the water with it, in the little plastic cup it came in. The fish was pink but the water was a weird blue color. No other explanation.

It doesn't harm humans, but it may run a risk with a Beta fish. I wouldn't chance it unless you are willing to chance losing your fish.

Yes it would. Food colouring is not fish safe and could stress out or potentially kill the fish. You should only ever add fish safe products to a tank.

yes it would. do not put things in your tank unless they are compatible. i certainly wouldn't put food colour in it.
