In my state they will remove the infant from the mother's custody if the infant tests positive for drugs.

The child will placed under protective custody of the state. Normalyl you'll have to go before a child abuse and neglect judge in order to set out your goals in order to get your child back. In the meantime the child can stay with family members the court finds suitable.

It really all depends. Most of the time, if there is no reason to suspect foul play, the test will not be done.  If there is a reason for the hospital or the doctor to test you, they will do one on you and one on your baby.  If either of you tests positive, you will have to enter a rehab program that often allows children to accompany their parents to treatment (usually day-programs, not overnight).  However, depending on your records, the drug, the quanitity, and your home environment, your child could be taken from your custody until you can prove yourself to be a fit mother.

You should be asking - what would happen if my babies blood test came back showing drugs! You have got a choice to take them or not - that baby hasn't!

be prepared to have a long discussion with child protective services. And since your taking a drug test I'll assume that you have a parole officer....and then you'll probably go to jail or ordered to rehab and the baby will go to a relative or to the state unless its still in the hospital because of the drugs you've poisioned it with or dead.

Unless they have a warrant in the US they cannot test you.  This was something that happened in the late 90's and in 2001 the supreme court finally put a stop to it.

well believe it or not they do test you and the baby in the hospital even if you dont see them do it! and like others have said before me, if the baby has any amount of drug in it they with can socail services to the hospital and most likely take the baby from you. even if its majiuana. you need to stop taking drugs for your sake and your babies sake!
