Thalamus in the brain the one in charge of motor and sensory control.

  1. Coma -- the thalamus controls sleep / wake cycles.

    Sensory isolation -- there would be almost no sensory processing.


  2. He would be hypothalamic (kidding)

    It's hard to imagine lack of a thalamus being compatible with life, at least independent of life support.  Certainly not up walking and talking.
