What would happen if the earth's axis were inclined 45 degrees rather than 23.5 degrees?

  1. Seasons would be much more extreme, especially at higher latitudes, ocean currents and winds would be stronger, and half the earth would have midnight sun summers and dark winters instead of just 1/6 or so.


  2. I'm not sure how it would affect our revolution around the sun, but the seasons would be much more drastic.

  3. Ready? This question was on 5 of my tests- I'm pretty sure I have the right answer.

    If Earth's tilt were magnified, as in the angle became greater than 23.5 degrees, the revolution would not change, nor would the rotation, of Earth. However, season's would be much more drastic, everywhere, including the Equator. Winters would be colder, because the sun's rays would be even more indirect. Summers would be hotter, because the areas receiving sunlight would have much more direct sunlight.

    The Poles would heat up and cool down much more drastically, most likely driving all forms of life away (since most lifeforms cannot handle such a drastic temp. range).
