  1. The fetus would die. Everything the baby needs is contained in the placenta


  2. Fetal death would follow within minutes as the oxygen supply is cut off, unless another oxygen supply (most likely breathing) is made available.

  3. You are asking what would happen if the umbilical cord was cut as it connects the placenta and the fetus.  The placenta is attached to the mother and picks up nutrients and oxygen and removes waste products.   Since a lack of oxygen is the most critical, death in minutes would occur.
